Supporting Education

With eyes of fire and a powerful glowing face, Mrs. Wagh is a visionary, dedicated teacher, and founder of Gyan Sadhana Vidhyala in Vikramgad, Maharashtra. Mrs. Wagh is helping the students become better next gen leaders. Her school accepts children from tribal families, most of whom are unable to pay school fees. Presently, the school is struggling for funds. Mrs. Wagh has used her personal savings to keep the School running.

You can help her and the beautiful school she has created by donating generously! You can:

* Sponsor a child's education for the whole year (Rs. 16,200 / annum (incld. transportation). 56 kids still need help.

* Pay the salary of 2 teachers, monthly (Rs. 12,000 / month). They employ 10 teachers in total.

* Make a one-time payment (of your desired amount)

* Donate a van/ jeep. (Kids are from remote villages. Without transportation, she sees a low retention rate. Nearly 10k of each kid’s annual school fee is toward transportation. A vehicle will reduce transportation expenses, while including more children.)

* Donate desktops. (Only new machines please.)

Even a small payment will go a long way for the students and the school.

Ideally, send money directly to the School (bank details below). For those of you accustomed to quick payments, you can pay via the farm. That said, we are charged 2% transaction fees, so if you're going big, please pay the School directly!

What stands out to me about Mrs. Wagh:

  • Visionary – Her school isn’t traditional. She takes on real world ideas like ‘Water’ and creates thinking that is global while connecting with the micro, localized experience.
  • Humanness – She grooms kids from restless youth to refined adults, without imposing on their cultural sensitivity (which is a beautiful one to nurture). For example, the kids learn to be neat, not waste, etc.; While the lunch they eat is consistent what they would eat at home.
  • Dedicated – She teaches tribal kids without financial privilege. Mrs. Wagh has worked hard over the years to find donors for the Trust, and personally funded when Trust finances have been low. She insists children continue to come to school, regardless of whether they are able to pay monthly fees.

Mrs. Wagh's dream: Purchase 1-acre piece of land, build a school, and grow a forest around it for, as she puts it, "kids learn better when surrounded by forest".
