Farmer - Gaikwads
 
The Gaikwads have been nurturing cows for generations. Theirs are the happiest cows I know, grazing on hill slopes. Mr. Gaikwad (Padya), the herder, sets out singing at 5:30 each morning to release his animals. The cows roam freely, grazing in undisturbed forests on hill slopes. They are tended to by a friendly Gaikwad dog. Each evening, they'll make the walk home. Feed is supplemented with home grown organic rice straw, homegrown pulses, and some. Mrs. Gaikwad (Varsha) prepares the ghee.
 
The ghee is prepared using traditional bilona method.
